Cloud Computing Shotlist Process
So my DP, Jeffrey Waldron, and I shotlisted the entire film with GoogleDocs. We created a spreadsheet, spent 15 hour days in a room stocked with tons of Diet Dr. Pepper and a whiteboard, and talked out every scene as we typed out all the shots on GoogleDocs.
It took about 2 weeks, but about 1000 shots later, we had the whole movie virtually cut before we had started production. We then shared the shotlist via GoogleDocs with our storyboard artist, Danny Brough Stevenson. We picked out the complicated scenes, drank more DDP, and discussed the shots.
He came back with storyboards that looked like this

So, without much further ado, here’s the Searching For Sonny - Shotlist Template for Google Docs I left a few shots from the first scene in there so you can get the idea of what our process was like.
If your’re not into the whole cloud computing thing, here’s just a regular old boring excel file
